      More about our project:

Leadership Sacramento – a leadership development program of the Sacramento Metro Chamber of Commerce, with an annual cohort of 35 rising regional leaders – is partnering with the Boys & Girls Club’s Thomas P. Raley Branch on a capital improvement project to convert that branch to a dedicated Teen Center, thereby enabling the Boys & Girls Club to attract, retain and steward teens to reach their full potential.  The project requires no major renovation, but involves a re-branding and re-purposing of some of the interior spaces to better meet the needs and interests of teens.  For example, the former Teen Room will be converted into a Performance and Dance Studio; the Library and Computer Lab will be combined and designed as a College, Career and Technology Center; and the Arts & Crafts Room will be re-designed as a Creative Arts & Design Studio.  These design and programmatic decisions have been made with input from community leaders, youth development professionals, program providers, as well as with teens that would use the Center. With sufficient funding, renovations will begin in the fall and will be largely completed by December 2013.  The Boys & Girls Club projects the conversion of this Center will allow them to provide meaningful support and service to a minimum of 300 teens annually and thousands over the ensuing years.
